Markup Hero vs GoFullPage

Pick GoFullPage if you mainly need unlimited free full page screenshots saved as images or PDFs on your own computer. Pick Markup Hero if you want to annotate those captures for free and share them with a link, or mark up PDFs and Google Drive files too. The biggest difference: GoFullPage's free version captures and exports, while its editing and annotation tools are part of Premium. Markup Hero's free plan includes its annotation tools, limited to 25 markups.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Markup Hero if

  • You want to add arrows, text, shapes and blur to a full page screenshot without paying.
  • You need a share link instead of sending image files, and want others to be able to add their own notes.
  • You also mark up PDFs, images, or Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, not only web pages.
  • You capture outside the browser too, with the free desktop screenshot apps for Mac, Windows and Linux (beta).

Choose GoFullPage if

  • You only need full page captures and want unlimited free screenshots with no cap.
  • You want screenshots to stay on your own computer and never be uploaded to a server.
  • You use Microsoft Edge and want an add-on made for it.
  • Its Premium plan, at $12/year, is the lower yearly price if you want its editor.

Pricing compared (as of November 2026)

GoFullPage is free to install and capture with. Its FAQ says you can take and download as many screenshots as you want, as images or PDFs, with the free version. GoFullPage Premium costs $12 USD per year (its Premium page also describes it as $1 a month), with a 1-week free trial, and adds cropping, a URL and date stamp, smart PDF page splitting, and annotations such as blur, text and highlight.

Markup Hero has a free Basic plan with 25 markups, annotations editable for 24 hours and uploads up to 8 MB. Premium is $10/month, or $3/month billed yearly ($36/year), with unlimited markups. Teams pay $4 per user per month on the annual plan, and a one-time Lifetime plan is $199.

Full page capture

Both tools capture an entire scrolling web page. GoFullPage is built for exactly this: with one click it scrolls through the page, stitches the parts into one image, and opens it in a new tab, where you can download it as PNG, JPG or PDF. It works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and the shortcut is Alt+Shift+P.

Markup Hero's free Chrome extension takes full page screenshots of any tab and opens them straight in the Markup Hero editor. See how scrolling screenshots work.

Annotating and sharing

This is where the two differ most. With GoFullPage, editing and annotation are Premium features, and the result is a file you download and send yourself. With Markup Hero, the free plan includes text, arrows, lines, shapes, pen, highlighter, blur, signatures and crop, and every markup gets a share link with a thumbnail preview for email, Slack or social posts.

People you share a Markup Hero link with can add their own annotations, or duplicate the markup to edit their own copy. You can also copy the image to your clipboard, download a PNG, or export a multi-page PDF.

Privacy and where screenshots are stored

GoFullPage stores screenshots inside your browser on your own computer. Its FAQ says they are not anywhere else online or on any servers, and that uninstalling the extension deletes them. If you capture pages you never want uploaded, that is a real advantage.

Markup Hero saves markups to your account so you can share them by link, search your history, and organize them with titles, tags, favorites and collections. Custom sharing and privacy settings let you control who can see a shared markup, and the blur tool permanently hides sensitive details before you share.

More than web pages

GoFullPage captures web pages open in your browser. Its FAQ notes that it cannot scroll and capture a PDF open in the browser. Markup Hero lets you import multi-page PDFs and images, mark up Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and PDFs from Google Drive with its free Google Drive app, and annotate files shared in Slack. Its Magic tool copies text from any area of an image or PDF to your clipboard.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoFullPage free?

Yes. GoFullPage's free version lets you take and download unlimited full page screenshots as images or PDFs. Cropping, annotation and other editing tools are in GoFullPage Premium, which costs $12 USD per year as of November 2026.

Is there a free way to annotate a full page screenshot?

Yes. Markup Hero's free Chrome extension takes full page screenshots, and the free Basic plan includes arrows, text, shapes, highlighter and blur, limited to 25 markups. You can try the editor without an account.

Can I share a GoFullPage screenshot with a link?

GoFullPage keeps screenshots on your computer and says they are not stored on any servers, so you share them by downloading the image or PDF and sending the file. Markup Hero gives every markup a share link.

Does either work on a Chromebook?

Markup Hero works on a Chromebook through its Chrome extension and browser editor, with nothing else to install. GoFullPage is also a Chrome extension available from the Chrome Web Store.

Which one is better for privacy?

If you never want a screenshot to leave your computer, GoFullPage stores captures only in your browser. If you need to share, Markup Hero has custom sharing and privacy settings and a blur tool that permanently hides sensitive information before you send the link.

Can I annotate PDFs with either tool?

Markup Hero imports multi-page PDFs, lets you annotate and sign them, and exports them back to PDF. GoFullPage exports captures to PDF, but its FAQ notes it cannot capture a PDF document open in the browser.
